Ursuline Curriculum - Ursuline Academy

Ursuline Academy's curriculum grows out of its philosophy and objectives, and is designed to challenge students intellectually, to help each student discover talents and to reach his/her potential, and to serve as a stepping stone to further education. The curriculum has a strong emphasis on college preparation with honors-level classes in many subjects to insure challenging academic work is available for every student. Academics focus primarily on core courses with additional practical and fine arts requirements to insure a well-rounded educational program.

Juniors and Seniors have the opportunity to earn transferable College Credits at neighboring Springfield College in Illinois.

All high school level courses take by students as well as college courses take at SCI, in lieu of Ursuline course work, will be used in determining class rank. These college courses, must be taken at SCI during the hours of standard school day, 8:00am to 3:00 pm. The college courses will be used to determine class rank only, not high school WGPA or GPA. Students do not receive high school credit for college courses.

Class rank will be determined by assigning the following numerical equivalents to the letter g rades or each course. ( U.A Standard/U.A. Level 11/ SCI College) and then applying the formula used for determining the average grade/high school GPA.

ACT composite average for the Class of 2000 is 20.1 This includes 64 students out of 63 for a 100 % participation.
